Description
Pharmacokinetics:
BMDP, also known as 3,4-Methylenedioxy-N-benzylcathinone, is a substituted cathinone. Its molecular structure is analogous to methylone, known more colloquially as MDMC—an amphetamine known scientifically as 3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylcathinone. With an additional phenyl group tacked onto the amino methyl group, the BMDP chemical is insoluble in liquid. Its molecular formula is C17H17NO3 [1].
Following their initial detection by authorities in the UK and in Poland in 2010, researchers have found out how to detect BMDP in drug screening tests like urine panel tests [2].
Scientific Studies:
According to research on various synthetic cathinones, including BMDP specifically, BMDP and others stimulate the central nervous system by stimulating the increase in certain hormone levels, including dopamine, noradrenaline and serotonin–which all can coalesce to create a euphoric effect. BMDP also inhibits the reuptake of these hormones in the central and peripheral nervous systems, which further elevates their levels. As such, the only real threat in terms of toxicity when it comes to BMDP comes from its effects on hormone levels. Excessive serotonin can lead to metabolic acidosis, hyperthermia and other health problems [3].
