Description

Pharmacokinetics:

MDPT is a substituted cathinone that also goes by the names MDPT(tBuONE) and D-Tertylone. Its full name in scientific nomenclature is 1-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-yl)-2-(tert-butylamino)propan-1-one, monohydrochloride, and its molecular formula is C14H19NO3 • HCl [1].

Cathinone is a naturally-occurring alkaloid from the khat plant, and is popularly chewed in some countries as a stimulant, similar to chewing tobacco. However, the stimulant effect of cathinone is much stronger than tobacco. MDPT is structurally similar to natural cathinone, but parts of its molecular structure are substituted with other chemicals [2].

The molecular structure of MDPT is similar to N-ethyl pentylone, pentylone, methylone and butylone [2].

Scientific Studies:

MDPT is a new substituted canthione, and has never been reported on in scientific publications. However, its close relatives pentylone and butylone, which are Schedule 1 drugs, have been studied [2]. According to research published in “Psychopharmacology” in 2019, scientists looked at the effects of these substances in the brains of rats. They found that significant changes in neurochemistry occurred, characterized by elevated dopamine uptake and stimulated motor activity [3].
