Description
Pharmacokinetics:
SGT-151, also known as CUMYL-PEGACLONE, is a gamma-carboline based synthetic cannabinoid. It’s one of the newest synthetic cannabinoids, and is known as 5-pentyl-2-(1-methyl-1-phenyl-ethyl)-2,5-dihydro-pyrido[4,3-b]indol-1-one (abbreviated C25H28N2O) in scientific nomenclature. It’s a crystalline solid, and has a high affinity for the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system. It’s also shown to accumulate in the cAMP-mediated signaling pathway, suggesting it’s able to play a regulatory role on cellular functions [1].
Because of its unique gamma-carboline core, SGT-151 is fresh on the synthetic cannabinoid scene, and is not yet officially defined by regulators [2]. Thus, its use for laboratory research is not controlled. With little known about this new synthetic cannabinoid, there’s an exciting opportunity for studying its properties.
Scientific Studies:
In a 2018 study published in “Drug Testing and Analysis,” researchers looked at the binding affinity of SGT-151 towards the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2. The tests showed full agonistic binding affinity and high potency at both receptors, suggesting cannabimimetic effects [1].
